Our Sunday Service

We are a casual, come-as-you-are church, welcoming everyone to our services. We currently have both in-person and online options for attending.

Our Sunday services include music, singing, scriptural readings, prayer, and a sermon. The sermon is based on a weekly Bible lesson from our Pastor - the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by the discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy.

As a church of lay people, we elect two individuals from our membership to conduct the service.

At the same time as church, we conduct Sunday School classes for children up to the age of 20. We also have childcare for those too young for Sunday School.

After the service everyone is invited for fellowship in the Sunday School/Fellowship room for refreshments.

Online Spanish services are available on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. Click below.

Our Wednesday Testimony Meeting

The Wednesday evening meeting is an encouraging message to the world that spiritual transformation and Christian healing are alive and well. It’s also a supportive meeting for those attending to hear remarks of gratitude and spiritual inspiration as well as accounts of Christian healing by fellow members and attendees.

During the meeting we hear readings from the Bible and Science and Health that address current world and community issues.  Everyone attending in person or remotely is invited to share how they have been blessed by the teachings of Christian Science.

Childcare is available for children too young to attend the Wednesday meetings.

Meet our Readers

Our church services are conducted by church members elected by the membership to a three-year term. Our current readers are serving from Sunday, September 3, 2023 through August 30, 2026.

A little bit about them:

Pam Thompson - First Reader

Originally from California, Pam holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and worked for a number of years in the Aerospace industry on communications satellites. Pam and her husband Dan moved to Richardson in 1990 just in time for their oldest child to be born a native Texan. Pam turned her focus to raising their 3 children and serving the Richardson church in various capacities. She particularly loves serving in the Christian Science Reading Room and introducing the public to the teachings of Christian Science.

In her spare time, she loves traveling, cruising, and singing with the 6 time International Championship Rich-Tone Chorus, an 80 member women's Barbershop Chorus.

Leslie Connery - Second Reader

Leslie began studying Christian Science in 1997, when discouragement over a series of personal, professional, and health challenges led her to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. She credits the study of Christian Science with the complete transformation of her life. Although she has held many different positions within branch churches over the years, this is her first opportunity to serve as a Reader. She has been a member of our church since 2015.

Leslie works as an attorney. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, learning about historical places, practicing her Spanish, and kickboxing.

Meet our Musicians

We have two talented musicians who provide the music for our services.

Julia Boudreaux - Organist/Keyboard

Julia Boudreaux grew up in south Louisiana and began studying the piano at age 9. For the last 15 years, Julia has worked at many churches as organist/Director of Music, as well as teaching private piano lessons. She currently works at Lake Highlands School of Music where she has a studio of over 40 students! She also teaches early childhood music at various preschools in the Dallas area. Julia received undergraduate degrees in Organ Performance and Academic Studies of Music from Louisiana State University, while also studying piano, voice, and French. She is currently working towards a third degree in Communication Disorders.

Lisa Huffaker - Soloist

Lisa Huffaker, mezzo soprano, sings with the Dallas Opera chorus, and has performed a number of solo roles with that company and others. She holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Boise State University. Her creative practice also includes writing and visual art. She has published her poems in numerous literary journals, and has an installation on view at Ro2 Art.
