“Wash you, make you clean;”
(Isaiah 1:16)

To be morally pure is important. This is what Isaiah means when he says, "Wash you, make you clean." It is also important not to live a life of guilt. Jesus showed us the way to live this life. It begins by acknowledging God, Spirit, as the source of man's nature and essence. Through this we learn that, even if we feel the weight of sin, the Science of our true being cleanses our thoughts. In Soul, we feel God's presence. In Soul, we see what is true, and are led to the discovery and demonstration of what is real and good. It is so easy in this day and age to turn to material remedies, to follow the rules of diet, exercise, hygiene. Sometimes the temptations are subtle, and we don't even realize where we are putting our faith. Spirit is all. Christian Science teaches that matter is the supposed opposite of Spirit, and thus has no real existence. Spirit is seen in the knowledge of ourselves as God's children. God's love for man, His own image, is a fact. The Bible teaches us that God is Love, and this teaching is in this week's Lesson-Sermon. The mission of Jesus was to demonstrate the scope and power of God's love, in healing disease and destroying sin. Mary Baker says in Science and Health: "God is Love. Can we ask Him to be more?"
